March 2010 Guild Meeting
Diana Marshall from Gloversville Sewing Center spoke at our meeting about sewing machine maintence and the importance of using the proper threads and needles for our sewing projects. Did you know that 2 bobbins equals approximately 3 hours of sewing time?  How often do you change the needle in your sewing machine? What type of needle should you use? How often do you oil your machine? Should you use the same thread in your bobbin as that which you are using to sew with? What types of thread create a need for you to adjust your tension? Diana's talk created a lot of "oohs" and "aahs" from the membership, as well as opened a lot of eyes. Also, Paul and Stephanie Naused from Shear Saavy were present to sharpen scissors. Our members took advantage of this service and over 30 pairs of scissors were sharpened that evening. The evening's display of Show & Tell also garnered several "oohs" and "aahs" from the membership.
