Monthly Meetings
Q.U.I.L.T.S. will be going back to in-person meetings beginning in September 2022. We may still have some Zoom meetings and possibly some hybrid in-person/zoom meetings in the future. Check out our newsletter, Facebook page and web page for information on our meetings. |
Q.U.I.L.T.S. generally meets the first Thursday of every month from September through June. Meetings are held at the First Reformed Church of Scotia, 224 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia, NY. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and run until about 9:00 p.m. Visitors and guests are welcome. There is a non-member fee ranging from $5 to $20 depending upon the evening's program. Meeting dates and times, topics and guest fees are published on our website and in our newsletter.
Meeting Format
Prior to each meeting members may arrive early to mingle, browse through the extensive lending library, enter the various drawings and raffles or preview upcoming workshops. After a short business meeting, the Program Committee introduces the evening's planned program which may be a speaker or a mini-workshop. Our November meeting is usually devoted to our annual ‘sew-in’ where members get together in groups to piece quilt tops which will be donated to the Northeast Parent and Child Society. Our February meeting is devoted to assembling and tying these quilts. All meetings include the much anticipated ‘show and tell’ where members proudly show off their recently-completed quilt projects.
Drawings & Raffles
During each guild meeting, members are encouraged to participate in several drawings: The Name Tag, Block-of-the-Month and Fat Quarter Drawings and Goodie Basket Raffle. For more information on these drawings and raffles, click here.
Guild Library
Our guild's extensive library includes stencils, videos and many new quilting books, as well as the old "classics."Â Members may borrow up to five items at a time, due back at the next meeting.
Workshops
On occasion, workshops are offered to members for a modest fee (usually $15 - $30). These workshops are put on by a guest speaker or one of our own members. Notices of the workshops are listed in the newsletter and on our website. Since space in these workshops is limited, Q.U.I.L.T.S. Members are given first priority to register before they are opened to other guilds.
