September 2009 Guild Meeting
Returning and new guild members were welcomed back after a long and, hopefully, productive quilting summer. Members were treated to an interesting and enjoyable presentation by Quilter, Teacher, Appraiser and Judge, Kathie Greenwold.  Kathie's topic of the evening was "Quilts of the Adirondacks." The presentation included a wonderful trunk show featuring many of Kathie's collection of 19th and 20th century quilts which were either made in the Adirondacks or inspired by the Adirondacks and upstate New York. Kathie discussed the differences of fabrics, quilting techniques and batting used by quilters in the Midwest vs. quilters on the East Coast.  Did you know that Quilters on the East Coast and in the Adirondacks in particular, had access to many types of quality fabrics due to the abundance of textile factories, rivers and seaports? The evening included a wonderful display of quilts created by our members.
