April 2015 Guild Meeting
Q.U.I.L.T.S. members and guests enjoyed a presentation and trunk show given by Joan Shay. Joan spoke about her journey from beginning quilter to internationally renowned teacher. Joan’s trunk show, titled “We’ve Bonded”, featured quilts she has made using her Petal Play technique. It is a fast and fun way to applique which does not require a sewing machine. The following day, several guild members took Joan’s class, “Geranium Wreath.”
For more on Joan and her Petal Play technique, check out her website www.petalplay.com or search for her on You Tube.

December 2014 Guild Meeting
Our guild members work hard to make and donate quilts for foster children at Northern Rivers Family Services and for our country’s Veterans. For the most part we never know who receives our works of love and caring, but every once in a while we do. One of our members was fortunate enough to personally deliver a quilt to a Vietnam Vet who appreciated his quilt and our donation work so much that he took the time to design a logo for our Veterans Quilt Program. The logo was presented to Guild member, Pat Terry, who heads up the program.
Our annual holiday celebration featured presentations by several area quilt shop owners, a delicious selection of snacks brought in by members, and an always wonderful display of show & tell. Members also brought in donations of personal care items for the Family Life Center at the Schenectady City Mission and mittens, gloves, hats, and various other items for Northern Rivers Family Services.

October 2014 Guild Meeting
This month’s guild meeting featured a presentation and trunk show from designer and teacher Marlous Carter of Marlous Designs. Marlous shared several of her designs from her new book, ‘Director’s Cut – Stash Busting with Precuts 1,’ where several of the samples were made by the guild’s own members.  Marlous also gave several tips for giving a quilt ‘attitude!’.  The Guild’s 2014 Raffle Quilt is one of Marlous’s original designs!
The business meeting evolved around last minute preparations for the upcoming Autumn Inspirations 2014 show, which will be held at Proctors GE Theatre on October 18 & 19.  Our next meeting will held on October 16 at the Underground at Proctors.  There will not be a regular business meeting held that evening, rather the guild will be working on initial set up and preparations for the show.
