February 2014 Guild Meeting
Snow and cold, and more cold, forced the cancellation of our scheduled speaker. Fortunately, our program committee was able to pull from our stash and our own Kathie Greenwold gave a talk about how to prepare a quilt for a show. Kathie also spoke about the judging process – what the judges look for as far as a quilt’s presentation, design and workmanship.

January 2014 Guild Meeting – Annual Tie-In
The January Guild Meeting was our annual Tie-In for Northern Rivers Kids. The Tie-In began at 4:00 so we could get an early start on tying quilts. Those members who were able to come early enjoyed a delicious dinner of soup, salad and pizza. After a short business meeting, the tying continued throughout the evening. There was no show & tell at this meeting. Kudos to the Guild’s Hospitality Committee who arranged a wonderful spread.
A special thank you goes out to Gloversville Sewing Center, who graciously donates the battings for these quilts each year.

December 2013 Guild Meeting
The Guild’s Annual Holiday Celebration was an evening of good food and friendship. Unfortunately, our featured speaker, Marlous Carter, was unable to make the meeting, but as good quilter’s do, we pulled from our stash and had a delightful evening.
The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the beautiful raffle quilt for our upcoming quilt show. The quilt is a Marlous Carter design and was made by the Square One Friendship Group. Kudos to all who were involved with making the quilt – they did a fabulous job!
After a short business meeting, attendees shared desserts and finger foods – including “cheese burger cookies” — and you can tell by the photo included below that they were delicious! The evening concluded with Show & Tell.
As is a Q.U.I.L.T.S. holiday tradition, guild members brought in donations of gifts for Northern Rivers Family Services (which includes Northeast Parent and Child and Parsons Child and Family Center) and also donations of personal care items for the women at Family Life Center at the Schenectady City Mission.

November 2013 Guild Meeting – Annual Sew In for Kids
The November Guild Meeting was the Guild’s annual Sew-In for Northern Rivers Kids. At this meeting, members worked together to sew tops for donation to Northern Rivers Family Services. The sewing began at 4:00 and continued into the evening, with a short break for pizza, tossed salad and a business meeting. There was no Show & Tell at this meeting.
Please note: The Annual Tie-In will be held at our January 2014 meeting. So that the committee has enough time to measure quilt tops and match them up with battings, members should bring completed quilt tops along with backing and binding fabrics to the December 2013 Guild meeting.
Mark your calendars – Due to the days the holidays fall on this year, the January meeting will be held the second Thursday of the month – January 9, 2014.
