March 2013 Guild Meeting
Our Guild was honored to have nationally known quilt teacher and lecturer Sharon Schamber speak about her work, with a focus on color. Â Sharon’s presentation was very entertaining and enlightening. Â She had a lot of knowledge to share, along with a trunk show of her marvelous works.
The following day, several guild members attended a domestic machine quilting class with Sharon titled “Filling in the Spaces.”

February 2013 Guild Meeting
The February Guild Meeting is one of our more “social” meetings. Guild members gather in groups to tie quilts which we then donate to Northern Rivers Family Services (formerly Northeast Parent & Child.) This meeting is a great experience for our new members, as they get to meet and chat with others who share their hobby. Our experienced members are always willing to share skills and teach new quilters how to tie a quilt. Once a quilt is tied, volunteers take them home to finish the quilts with bindings and bring them back at a future guild meeting for Show & Tell and donation to Northern Rivers.
A special thank you goes out to Gloversville Sewing Center, who graciously donates the battings for these quilts each year.

January 2013 Guild Meeting – Mini Workshops
The new year brings the sharing of new techniques to Q.U.I.L.T.S. members with our popular mini workshop meeting. Guild members rotated through 15 minute sessions given by our own fellow members. Kathie Greenwold demonstrated how to make leaf bowls using fusible interfacing, Lynn Lauzon-Russom showed members the “old-is-new” technique to make fast 9-patch blocks, Pat Cunningham shared her English paper piecing skills and Pat Piniasik showed how to make “Mary’s fast triangles.”
The meeting also included a fabulous show & tell of quilts, table runners, wall hangings and a Christmas stocking made by our talented members.
