Q.U.I.L.T.S. on CNN
Q.U.I.L.T.S. recently had a once-in-a-lifetime experience. John Bena, the son of one of our members, Lois Bena, traveled from Washington, D.C. with his CNN camera equipment to film a short piece about the
Soldier Quilts that our guild makes. These quilts are sent to our contact in Maryland where they are distributed to injured soldiers at the Walter Reed Army Hospital.
Chris Powell was chosen as our guild’s representative to be interviewed for the piece. Chris has made nearly 30 quilts for the soldiers and has even dedicated her vacation time to this worthy cause. The piece also featured Pat Terry, the guild’s soldier quilt coordinator.
The CNN Quilt Project story was part of a one-hour special program on GIVING which was shown on the CNN channel on Christmas Day, 2010.Â
