January 2011 Guild Meeting

Karen Brackett from Skidmore College and Patti Estabrook from Patti's Quilting & Fabrics in Glens Falls gave a wonderful presentation of their Education Study Program in South Africa.  This program is designed to expose Skidmore College students to the history, culture, geography and education system of South Africa.  While this program has been in operation for several years, around 2008 they began a collaboration with Patti’s Quilting Shop to create quilts for South African children and also to teach them basic sewing and quilting skills.  Included in the presentation were the story quilts created by Skidmore students.  More information on this program can be found at Patti's Quilting & Fabrics or at Skidmore in Africa.
